August 2008
From our visit to UK last May, we have had a real busy and blessesd time back home. Clearing land, building a house for workers at the farm, constructing a well and installing a maize mill at the farm. We have also had the visit and ministry of Matthew and Chris Wright, our annual festival of the scripture union, hosted a team from Exodus as well as having Rachele and Heylay end their one year in Uganda. Rose and I have also had a great time in Bushenyi conference.
Clearing land is a big exercise. We are working through a thick bush with hundreds of stumps making this land ready for planting food crops. Praise the Lord for all the support especially from Magor as we have now been able to clear more than ten acres. We are starting to plough this land and three acres are already planted with sugar cane. We will also be planting maize cassava sweet potato, cabbage and tomatoes this season. We continue to get small harvests from the farm. This will be multiplied as we have cleared more land.
A three room house is under construction. We have reached the wall plate and the next step is roofing. This will be accommodation for people helping with work at the farm.
For the supply of water we are constructing a well. This will be used for both domestic and irrigation. As we hope to start poultry and piggery, this water will be very useful.
We are installing a maize mill. Messengers UK have been very kind to raise funds for this project. After we harvest the maize, we dry it and make maize flour which is a major ingredient of the daily feeding in an institution like ours. This mill allows us the ability to buy unprocessed foods and make our own flour which makes feeding cheaper than buying flour from the shops.
We had a wonderful time with Matthew and Chris who were sponsored by Living Hope Ministries to do a conference in Kitetikka and another one at Matembe. Matthew and Chris are consultant lecturers for Rock Ministries Bible College.
Our Scripture Union Big Day was a miracle of God's provision. It was up to a week before the day and we had no money for the occasion. God provided and we managed to host it again this year. It always quite a crowd of young people including present and one time students of Kitetikka School Project.
This year the Exodus teams visited us and as usual ministered to the community in many practical ways. Fixing roads, painting, building, teaching, leading SU and assemblies. They managed a whole weeks work at the farm, financed building of a new toilet and quite a few purchases for the school.
After one year in Uganda Rachele and Heylay went back home to N.Ireland. Their names in Uganda
were Nabukenya and Nabukeera. This shows how much they had become part of the community. They are
already badly missed by our family, church, school, Kitetikka community and the small Busiika
community where the school farm is found. We are grateful to their parents and church who allowed
them to come to us for that length of time to offer hard work and friendship. They were no longer
visitors but helped to host visitors.
We also know that many helped to support them morally spiritually and financially. We pray that God
will reward them.
Lastly, Rose and I have come back home from a good mission in Bushenyi sponsored by Living Hope Ministries. It was a very good meeting, God's anointing was evident and we enjoyed the presence of God in a big way. It was after the meetings that I began to realize that I was still on this planet when I realized that one of the tractor tyres had burst.
We miss Andrea so much. She is in N.Ireland and sounds well. An opportunity has come for us to see her again in Belfast on 13th August 2008 and then travel together in order for her to go to University at Makerere. We also cerebrate as Joseph got his visa and will be traveling with us. Praying that we all have a great time in N.Ireland.
I have tried to make this report as short as possible.
God bless you richly,
Peter.
